Airspace over Moscow’s Vnukovo airport temporarily closed due to drone threat

UPDATE 9:00 pm

According to Telegram channel Baza, a 77-year-old resident of Podolsk allegedly sustained shrapnel wounds to his arm as a result of the drone debris falling down in the Moscow-region city. Two other residents later asked for medical help — a 46-year-old man ended up with a thermal burn on his forearm, while a 65-year-old woman’s “hypertonic illness worsened due to the stress”. Both of them refused hospitalisation, as per Mash.

Earlier, Telegram channel Mash reported that the Kovyor plan had been introduced in the Vnukovo airport. This plan is declared when suspicious objects are detected in the sky. According to the Telegram channel, 11 departing flights and 15 arriving flights were temporarily delayed.

Russia’s Defence Ministry has also confirmed the reports about the shot down drone. The ministry said that the UAV had been destroyed in Moscow’s Podolsk district, no casualties or damages were reported.

Telegram channel Baza reports that the drone debris fell down on a children’s playground.

Telegram channel 112 has posted photos of the alleged drone debris.
