Putin awards Order of Honour to mother of Chechen leader Kadyrov

During a ceremony in the Kremlin on Wednesday Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the Order of Honour to Aimani Kadyrova, mother of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov.

“Aimani Kadyrova, a philanthropist and public figure, has devoted her entire life to serving the people. She heads the Akhmad Kadyrov Foundation,” Putin said.

The decree awarding Kadyrova the order was signed back in October 2022. In the same month, the heads of the self-proclaimed “people’s republics” of Donetsk and Luhansk presented her with their Orders of Friendship.

The 69-year-old Aimani Kadyrova holds a multitude of awards and titles. These include: an Order of Friendship “for her contribution to strengthening peace and friendship between the peoples of the North Caucasus”, a medal from the Russian National Guard, the Order of Akhmad Kadyrov, the medal of “Maternal Glory”, the merit badge “For Beneficence”, and the title “Honoured Human Rights Defender of Chechnya”.

Earlier, Putin awarded Khamzat Kadyrov, the 26-year-old nephew of Ramzan Kadyrov, with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 2nd degree. In December, Ramzan Kadyrov himself said that Putin had presented him with the Order of Alexander Nevsky. In September 2021, the head of Chechnya received the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, III degree, “for his great contribution to the socio-economic development of the region and many years of conscientious work”. Kadyrov’s wife Medni received the title of “Heroic Mother”.

Kadyrov’s 20-year-old daughter Khutmat was awarded the Order of Akhmad Kadyrov for her “enormous contribution to the development of the medical field”.
