Wagner Group military equipment spotted in Belarus for the first time
Military equipment of the mercenary Wagner Group has been spotted in Belarus for the first time, Belarusian Hajun project reports. IStories investigative journalism outlet took notice of the original post.
Belarusian Hajun writes that the 11th convoy of mercenaries has arrived in Belarus. The convoy includes at least 29 equipment units: mainly trucks, towing vehicles, and excavators.
Six armoured vehicles Shchuka (also known as Chekan) were also spotted in the convoy: those vehicles are often used by Wagner fighters and have not been seen in other convoys arriving in Belarus, the project points out.
Earlier, a pro-Wagner Telegram channel published a video sent in by one of its readers: the post claimed the video showed the 11th Wagner convoy spotted in Russia’s Oryol region. The Chekan armoured vehicle can be seen in the video.
Another Wagner-affiliated Telegram channel also published photos that seem to show the same vehicle.
On 12 July, the Russian Defence Ministry stated that the Wagner Group had handed over more than 2,000 equipment units to the Russian army.
