Crimean authorities report 9 drones shot down overnight

Air defence systems in the annexed Crimea repelled an attack by 9 drones overnight, the Russian governor of the city of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, reported Sunday morning.

“Two drones were shot down, EW systems took down another five. In addition, 2 surface drones were destroyed on the outer roadstead,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Videos allegedly showing air defence systems at work surfaced in social media.

In a subsequent statement, the Russian Defence Ministry reiterated that air defence destroyed two Ukrainian drones over the Black Sea at a great distance from the shore, while five more drones, suppressed by electronic warfare systems, crashed without reaching their targets.

In the northern part of the Black Sea, coast guard boats allegedly detected and destroyed two unmanned vessels of the Ukrainian Forces, the ministry added.

Razvozhayev claimed that the attack was “massive and prolonged”, but that no damage was caused, assuring that everything was now calm in Sevastopol.

On Friday, the governor of Russia’s Kursk region, Roman Starovoyt, reported a drone falling in the town of Kurchatov. He said that a residential block had been damaged and no people were hurt.

On the same day, an elderly woman was killed in an attack on the Belaya Beryozka settlement in Russia’s Bryansk region, according to local authorities.
