Eleven killed in Russian missile strike on five-storey residential building in Ukraine’s Kryvyi Rih

At least six people have been killed as a result of a Russian missile hitting a five-storey residential building in the city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro region of Ukraine, as per the head of the Kryvyi Rih military administration Oleksandr Vilkul.

The number of killed in the city of Kryvyi Rih following a Russian missile strike has gone up to 11, the head of the Dnipro region military administration Serhiy Lysak reports. The rescue operation has been completed.

The death toll has gone up to 10 people, according to the head of the Kryvyi Rih military administration Oleksandr Vilkul. Twenty-eight people were wounded, 12 of them hospitalised, some of them in critical condition. One person is still trapped under the rubble. 

The rescue operation is ongoing. Tomorrow, 14 June, was declared Mourning Day in the city of Kryvyi Rih.

At least 25 people were injured, 19 of them were hospitalised, the head of the Dnipro region military administration Serhiy Lysak previously reported. “The flats on all the floors are on fire. The fire area is 700 square metres. <…> 

“It’s likely that there are still people trapped under the rubble,” Lysak said.

According to Vilkul, there are injured in critical condition.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a video from the scene, commenting on the morning attack: “More terrorist missiles, Russian killers continue their war against residential buildings, ordinary cities and people. 

“Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded. 

“The rescue operation in Kryvyi Rih continues. My condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones! Terrorists will never be forgiven, and they will be held accountable for every missile they launch,” the president wrote.

The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported that the Russian army had attacked Ukraine overnight using 14 cruise missiles and 4 Shahed drones. According to the Ukrainian military, 10 missiles and one UAV were destroyed by air defence.

In its morning bulletin, the General Staff confirmed that a five-storey building and other civilian facilities had been hit in the city of Kryvyi Rih. “Unfortunately, there are wounded in critical condition. We’re clarifying the information,” the statement reads.

In the morning, explosions were heard in the city of Dnipro as well.

Earlier in the morning, the local authorities reported overnight attacks on Kyiv and Kharkiv carried out by Russian forces. According to the head of the Kyiv military administration Serhiy Popko, Russia’s Armed Forces used Kh-101/555 cruise missiles. Air defence destroyed all air targets, as of now there’s no information on victims and damages, he said. Mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov reported that Russian servicemen had attacked the city using Shahed drones.
