Ukraine’s air defence have destroyed around 15 aerial targets over Kyiv, local officials said.
“No hits were made. Preliminary data shows there were no victims or significant damage,” the statement says.
The Kyiv authorities say Ukraine’s capital was attacked by four Russian Tu-95MS bombers from the vicinity of the Caspian Sea. This has been the fifth aerial attack on Kyiv this month.
“The launched cruise missiles, most likely of the Kh-101 (Kh-555) type, did not reach their targets,” said Serhiy Popko, head of the administration.
The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, reported that a piece of a downed rocket fell on a private plot of land in the city, causing a fire. “The burning debris was extinguished. There were no casualties and no injuries,” he wrote.
