A civilian was killed and an Italian journalist working for La Repubblica wounded in shelling of a bridge in the Kherson region of Ukraine carried out by Russia’s Armed Forces, Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reports.
A pre-trial investigation into violating the laws and customs of war has been initiated, the office adds.
La Repubblica reports the name of the journalist who was wounded — Corrado Zunino. According to the Italian newspaper, Ukrainian national Bogdan Bitik, killed in the shelling, was the journalist’s fixer. Zunino says that he was wearing a vest marked with “PRESS”.
