IStories: Russia’s regional FSB office summons several Russians who fled draft but returned to country for questioning

The main office of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) in the Omsk region has summoned several residents of the regions, who fled Russia to avoid partial mobilisation but recently returned to the country, for a round of “routine questioning”, IStories writes, citing its followers and an FSB officer.

Several men were asked to show up at the FSB regional office to explain why they recently left the country.

One such person who received this call said that his health and other qualifications make him eligible to serve in the army, he also graduated from his university with additional military training and a rank of lieutenant of the reserve. On 21 September, he flew to a Middle Eastern country for scheduled leave but decided not to return to Russia. When his visa expired, he first travelled to a post-Soviet state and then flew back to Russia.

“Of course, nobody showed up for questioning,” a source told IStories.

Reporters dialled the number used by an FSB officer to call the men.

“I explained everything: the FSB building, central entrance. I will show my ID. We just need to ask them questions. Routine questioning. It’s not even an interrogation. We will talk, write a report of the questioning, and you will just go back home. That’s our job,” the officer said on the phone.

IStories note that database leaks show that the man is indeed employed as an FSB agent.
