In the town of Yefremov, Russia’s Tula region, four people have been killed in a gas explosion in a residential building, Russia’s state news agency TASS reports, citing the local emergency services.
The gas explosion led to one of the sectors of the five-storey building collapsing.
“Four people are dead, five were rescued, and two are still under the rubble after the residential building’s collapse in the Tula region,” the agency’s interlocutor says.
The residents of the building were evacuated, with a temporary accommodation centre being available for them to stay at.
“By order of the Tula region prosecutor, the conduct of an investigation into the collapse of part of the building due to a gas explosion in the town of Yefremov has been arranged,” the regional prosecutor’s office reports.
