US sends Ukraine first shipment of Bradley FV, containing more than 60 vehicles

The American government has sent Ukraine the first shipment of Bradley fighting vehicles, the US Department of Defence Transportation Command reports. The shipment, containing over 60 vehicles, left the shores of North Charleston, South Carolina, last week, as per the official website of the command.

A ship belonging to the Norwegian-Swedish company Wallenius Wilhelmsen was chartered for transportation.

The fighting vehicles “will provide the Ukrainian forces with additional offensive and defensive capabilities to protect their borders against Russia’s illegal invasion”, the statement reads.

Bradley is an armoured fighting vehicle used to transport the infantry in combat zones and to provide support fire. Aside from Bradley vehicles, the Joe Biden Administration has also previously announced “an additional $2.5 billion in security assistance, comprising more fighting vehicles, ammunition, missiles, and Stryker armoured personnel carriers”. In total, Washington has approved the transfer of 109 fighting vehicles to Kyiv.

The total volume of the US help to Ukraine is at $27.1 billion, according to the Transport Command website.
