Navalny film gets Academy Award nod in Best Documentary Feature

The 2023 nominees for Academy Awards have been announced. The 95th Oscar ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on 12 March and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

Navalny, a documentary detailing the 2020 attempt on the life of Russian opposition politician Alexey Navalny who has been imprisoned for more than two years now, has been nominated for Best Documentary Feature.

The Oscar nominees in Best Documentary Short Subject also includes Haulout, a film focusing on issues of the Arctic shot by Evgenia Arbugaeva and Maxim Arbugaev from Russia’s Yakutia.
