Ukraine: over 700 critical infrastructure facilities hit by Russia since war began

Over 700 critical infrastructure facilities have been hit by Russia in Ukraine since the war began, Ukraine’s first deputy Interior Minister Yevhen Yenin reports.

“In total, we have data on over 35,000 facilities destroyed by Russian attacks nationwide. 702 critical infrastructure facilities have been hit since the start of the invasion, including gas supply pipelines, power stations, bridges, and other,” he said, according to Radio Free Europe.

Starting from October, Russia has been massively targeting Ukrainian power facilities with its missile strikes. The strike executed on 23 November left a significant proportion of the country’s population with no power supply. Scheduled blackouts are still happening now and then in most regions of Ukraine.

Yenin reported in late November that a total of 32,000 civilian facilities had been damaged since the start of the war. He also added that only 3% of the attacks targeted military facilities.

Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said yesterday that a maternity ward had been damaged by Russia’s recent strike upon Kherson. The Russian military executed its most devastating strike upon the city since the start of the war, killing 16 people.
