A fuel truck caught fire at an airfield near Ryazan in Russia as a result of an explosion, killing three people, RIA Novosti and TASS cite emergency services.
“Preliminary data indicates there was an ignition of a fuel truck as a result of an explosion. Nine people were injured, three of them died,” the source said. An aeroplane was also damaged, he added.
TASS says five people were injured, two of them suffering heavy wounds. The explosion went off at the airfield’s apron, the news agency says. The local regional hospital has confirmed the hospitalisation of five people.
The sources have not specified what caused the explosion.
