Moscow protest artist sentenced to five years in prison for ‘hooliganism’
A court in Moscow has sentenced Pavel Krisevich, a protest artist, to five years in a medium-security prison for “hooliganism,” a newsperson for Novaya.Europe reports.
Krisevich avoided extra punishment for “gang crime upon preliminary collusion.”
The prosecutor demanded five years for the artist, too, noting that he has a good conduct certificate from his mandatory conscription service, but has a bad conduct certificate from his college. Krisevich was expelled from Moscow’s RUDN University after one of his performances.
He was sent to a pre-trial detention centre last July after his performance against political oppression. He used noise cartridges and a drill version of a Makarov pistol firing twice into the air and once against his body. He was not harmed.
During another performance, Krisevich imitated his own crucifixion in front of the FSB headquarters in downtown Moscow. He was expelled from the RUDN university shortly after.
