Schools in Russia’s Belgorod region located near border with Ukraine to switch to online learning 

Schools in the districts of Russia’s Belgorod region located near the border with Ukraine will switch to online learning, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on his Telegram channel.

The measures apply to the area 9 miles along the border in the Valuyki district and the area 6 miles along the border in the Shebekino district. The restrictions will not apply to the city of Shebekino.

The working hours of kindergartens will also change. These decisions were made following the session of the regional anti-terrorist committee, Gladkov said. “I hope that the parents and teachers will be understanding of this necessary measure,” he added.

Earlier today, RBC newspaper reported, citing its sources, that the officials of Russian regions bordering Ukraine and the self-proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk “people’s republics” (“LPR” and “DPR”) addressed Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov with the request to allocate funds from the federal budget to introduce additional security measures.

According to the newspaper, this concerns the Kursk, Bryansk, Belgorod and Rostov regions. Heads of Crimea, Sevastopol, the Voronezh and Krasnodar regions, will address Manturov with a similar request later, the reporters wrote.
