Crimea court arrests DJ for ten days for public demonstration of Azov regiment symbol

A Crimea district court has arrested a local DJ for ten days for public demonstration of Nazi symbols, informs the court’s press office.

“[Defendant] turned on Ukrainian song Wild Field in a café <...> and displayed Nazi symbols of the Azov battalion, banned in the Russian Federation, while a lot of customers were in the café,” the message reads.

The man pleaded guilty and explained that, while he had been DJing in the café, one of the customers had ordered the song and the accompanying video. According to the defendant, “the contents of the song and the video were unknown to him”.

The Crimea Gazeta published videos with the alleged man that had ordered the song and the DJ making apologies on its social media.

On 2 August, the Supreme Court of Russia ruled that the Azov regiment was a terrorist organisation and banned it on the territory of Russia.
