Three people were killed following yesterday’s shelling of a school in the city of Kramatorsk of the Donetsk region. Their bodies were recovered by rescuers today, reported Ukraine’s national public broadcaster Suspilne, citing the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
“At 06:50 am on 22 July, rescuers discovered and extracted a man’s body; in total, since the beginning of the rescue operation, three people’s bodies have been discovered and extracted,” an emergency service representative told Suspilne.
The rescue operation is still ongoing.
Yesterday, Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk regional military administration, reported that Russian forces shelled a resident area in Kramatorsk. As a result, a school was destroyed, 85 private houses and a five storey building were damaged.
According to local authorities’ estimates, yesterday, five civilians — from the cities of Siversk and Marinka, as well as from the village Pavlivka — were killed in the Donetsk region. Furthermore, ten people were injured.
