Russian Foreign Minister: “West’s uncertainty proves that it’s all about ideology rather than care about Ukrainians”

Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister, took part in the meeting of the G20 foreign ministers in Indonesia and shared what he discussed with his foreign counterparts as he spoke to the media.

“I reminded my Western counterparts about what they had been saying for the past months and asked them to finally decide what their countries are up to. The West’s uncertainty proves that it’s all about ideology rather than care of Ukrainians, Ukraine and European security in general,” he said.

Lavrov also believes that the West is “blocking Russia’s grain supply.” He clarified that the grain which is now stored in Ukraine’s sea ports makes up no more than 1% of the entire global production, so it “does not really affect the world’s food security.”

Lavrov will leave the summit before its actual end, Maria Zakharova, the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, confirms. “Lavrov will have a bilateral talk, then speak with the media and leave,” she said.

A traditional photo-op was cancelled earlier as some representatives refused to be in a picture with Lavrov, Kyodo reports. “Well, I didn’t invite anyone to take pictures with me,” Lavrov commented on the matter.

It became known yesterday that the foreign ministers of the G7 countries (the UK, Germany, Italy, Canada, the US, France, and Japan) did not attend the summit’s official dinner to avoid meeting Lavrov there. “They have shown their understanding of the procedures, as well as ethics and politeness,” the minister said. Zakharova referred to the boycott as to “a failed one.”

“All Western media covering the G20 summit are trying to find out who boycotted who. They are running around hastily, measuring how much time each minister spent in a room. They’re interested neither in the food crisis, nor the migration problems, nor the energy issues. They have a mainstream order to make up a boycott even if this actually makes everyone else laugh,” she wrote in her Telegram channel.

It was revealed in late June that Russia had been invited to partake in the G20 summit in Indonesia, scheduled for 15-16 November. Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia was “analysing whether it should partake.”
