The Russian Justice Ministry has signed an order aimed to improve the conditions of detention at pre-trial detention facilities and prisons in the country. The document is published on the ministry’s website.
The order establishes new rules that must “ensure the rights and legal interests of suspects, defendants and convicts.”
The new rules aim to improve personal hygiene regulations. Pregnant women, women with children, as well as people with disabilities, will be allowed to use the shower daily. The ministry also vows to “ensure privacy when installing bathrooms.”
