No less than two civilians were killed by the Russian shelling of the Luhansk region, four were injured, Serhiy Haidai, the local governor, wrote on his Telegram channel.
He noted that the authorities cannot be precise on the victims count regarding the parts of Sievierodonetsk occupied by Russia.
“The Russians fired upon a vehicle with French journalists yesterday in Lysychansk, a guy was killed and three were injured. Two more dead bodies were found in Lysychansk and Zolote,” Haidai added.
The Russians are filming staged videos of the local residents welcoming them in settlements. “Those who stayed fear revenge or a Bucha-like massacre,” Haidai said.
Pavlo Kyrylenko, the Donetsk governor, says at least three civilians were killed and six were injured when Sloviansk was shelled last night. A school building and at least seven apartment blocks were damaged.
“A salvage operation is ongoing at the moment, precise information on the number of casualties will follow,” he said.
The Russian forces continued to incrementally capture areas of Sievierodonetsk yesterday but have not yet fully encircled the city, says the US-based Institute for the Study of War.
The Ukrainian General Staff says Russia is shelling the Ukrainian positions with mortars, bombardment artillery and multiple rocket launchers. The Russian army is focusing its efforts on capturing Sievierodonetsk.
Both Serhiy Haidai and France’s leader Emmanuel Macron confirmed the death of a French journalist on 30 May. Haidai says the Russian army fired upon an evacuation vehicle when a shrapnel wounded the journalist to death.
