Russian journalist Michael Nacke arrested in absentia over “fake news”

Michael Nacke, a Russian journalist, was arrested in absentia by the Basmanny court in Moscow, Mediazona cites the court’s website.

Nacke and Ruslan Leviev, head of the Conflict Intelligence Team, are accused of “spreading fake news about the Russian army” for covering the events of 4 March when the Russian army shelled The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station in Ukraine.

Leviev was also arrested in absentia on 18 May, both are now safe outside Russia where they are wanted. They will be arrested for two months should they return to Russia.
