The Russian shelling of the Donetsk region of Ukraine killed five civilians and injured another five, reports local police.
34 civilian targets were damaged, including several hospitals and 19 residential buildings in Soledar, Siversk, Avdiivka and other settlements.
No less than 12 people were killed in yesterday’s shelling of Sievierodonetsk in the Luhansk region, more than 40 people were injured as the Russian army chaotically shelled the town using heavy weaponry, said Serhiy Haidai, the local governor.
The Ukrainian army reported earlier today that the Russian army had attacked Sievierodonetsk but suffered casualties and retreated. There is active combat now to the south of the town in the vicinity of Toshkivka. The Russian forces have also reached the localities of Volodymyrivka and Vasylivka along the Lysychansk/Bakhmut highway in the Donetsk region, says Ukraine.
