Russian ambassador to Poland doused with red paint during flower-laying ceremony
Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreev was doused with red paint during a flower-laying ceremony at the Soviet Military Cemetery in Warsaw, state news agency RIA Novosti reports.
According to the agency, Andreev left the cemetery escorted by police.
Earlier, the Polish Foreign Ministry recommended the embassy against holding wreath- and flower-laying ceremonies at the Soviet Military Cemetery in Warsaw, or organising an Immortal Regiment march.
The ministry stated that these events go against the Polish Penal Code (public calls for aggressive war, propaganda of a fascist and totalitarian regime, and inciting hatred) and the Polish law, namely the ban on symbols “supporting Russian aggression.”
