Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree that offers university admission privileges to the children of Russian military officers “taking part in the special military operation,” including those who were killed in combat, a document published on the official legal information portal reads.
Admission privileges are also offered to the children of employees of executive branches and state bodies that envisage military service, as well as to the children of law enforcement officers who took part in the war.
The new quota reaches “10% in each specialty or study domain.” Children of soldiers who were killed in the war can be admitted to Russian universities within this quota without entry exams.
Earlier, the United Russia party offered to provide university admission privileges to the children of Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine.
On March 26, Putin signed a decree giving veteran status to the participants of the war in Ukraine. Russian military officers who took part in the invasion of Ukraine will have the right to a monthly allowance and tax benefits, free use of public transport, priority medical care and other benefits.
