Two towers transmitting Russian radio destroyed in Transnistria

There were two explosions in the locality of Mayak in Transnistria this morning at 6.40 and 7.05 local time. “The two most powerful antennae have been destroyed, both were transmitting Russian radio stations,” reports the local police. None of the civilians were injured.

Transnistria Republic is a pro-Russian self-proclaimed breakaway state internationally recognized as part of Moldova. There were multiple explosions yesterday at the republic’s State Security Ministry. Powerful blasts were heard in the area, according to a RIA Novosti reporter, and the windows of the neighbouring houses were smashed. Photos from the explosion site show objects similar to grenade launcher tubes abandoned on the ground.

The local police report that a rocket-propelled grenade launcher was used and that no people were injured.
